"Beadwork
is one of the most intricate and
time-consuming of all craft techniques. Each
tiny molecule of light is selected and
attached to the next by using various fiber
techniques such as sewing or weaving. I work
with magnifying lenses and strong light, as
the beads are so tiny that my naked eye
often cannot see the subtle color
variations. By combining many colors I can
achieve something of the light effects of an
impressionist painting."
"These were the first beadwork pieces that I made. They are done in peyote stitch over turned wood forms. The silver hands and chains were created by master silversmith Kurt Matzdorf."
